Illegal oil spill workers caught in Texas

  • The Associated Press reports "42  suspected illegal immigrants have been detained in Texas after returning from an oil spill cleanup job in Michigan." A subcontractor working on the clean up has been under fire for bringing in the illegal workers.  A report by the Detroit News says Hallmark is alleged to have "bused in illegal immigrants from Texas, made them work 12-14 hour shifts and paid them $800 a week." Representative Mark Schauer recently called for a federal investigation into the problem.

They're getting ready for an electric vehicle revolution. Consumers have yet to chime in on whether they will actually buy the cars. • Livonia was named the city with the worst speed traps in Michigan by the National Motorists Association.  The Detroit Free Press has an article with a quote from Livonia Police Chief Robert Stevenson
"That designation doesn't bother me at all because we don't have speed traps -- we just enforce the law."

Mark Brush was the station's Digital Media Director. He succumbed to a year-long battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, in March 2018. He was 49 years old.
