An estimated 500,000 people are expected to make their way to Ann Arbor this week for the city’s annual Art Fairs, which is technically made up of four separate art fairs.
The fair, which runs Wednesday, July 20 - Saturday, July 23, will display works by more than 1,100 artists.
This year marks the 52nd anniversary of the Ann Arbor Art Fairs. But Max Clayton, director of the Summer Art Fair, says despite how long the event has been around, the artists still manage to surprise visitors:
"No artist comes each year with the same thing; they’re constantly evolving, they’re constantly changing - whether their technique or their vision changes. Imagination, particularly the imagination of an artist, is unlimited.
Clayton says "green" is a big trend in art right now, and visitors will likely see more artists working with recycled goods in everything from jewelry to mixed media. "I think this is going to be a very key element of artistic design in the next decade," says Clayton.
