The 2013 Arab Film Festival opens Thursday in Dearborn.
Eight films will be screened at the Arab American National Museum.
Devon Akmon, who helped organize the festival, spoke today with Cyndy about the event’s goals.
“The Arab Film Festival hopes to tell the story of the Arab-American community,” said Akmon.
Akmon noted the change in Arab film since the Arab Spring.
“Since the onset of the Arab Spring we have seen a rise of what is called Arab Cinema…This is a great opportunity to reflect on these changes.”
Films made in Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt and Morocco will be shown at the festival.
