The organizers behind the annual international ArtPrize competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan are going to Minnesota to seek pitches from the arts community there.

The person or group with the winning pitch will receive $5,000 to install their work at the Gillett Bridge in Grand Rapids for this year's ArtPrize event, according to the Associated Press.

ArtPrize organizers say they will hold an "ArtPrize Pitch Night" in Minneapolis. They say the process will be modeled on "5x5" events in Grand Rapids in which entrepreneurs have five minutes to pitch their idea to five judges.

Here's more from their website:

Starting in May, ArtPrize will create a four-week open call for projects, targeting the Minneapolis art community. The organization has partnered with the Walker Art Center who will host the Pitch Night and provide five judges for the event. Finalists will have five minutes to make their case for the $5,000 grant. “ArtPrize is Grand Rapids, unequivocally, but we want to develop a program that will help cities and organizations engage and activate their artist communities, as well as explore new ways that will help artists bring their ideas to ArtPrize,” said DeVos.

The fifth annual ArtPrize will take place from Sept. 18 through Oct. 6 this year.

There's $560,000 in prize money, including a $200,000 first prize. The public picks some winners and there also are juried awards.

ArtPrize is putting together a documentary about the process behind the 2012 Juried Grand Prize that will be released this year.
