After 11 days of public voting, 20 finalists out of 1,536 entries have been selected for the ArtPrize grand prize of $200,000.
So far, over 37,000 people have cast votes in four categories: two dimensional, three-dimensional, time-based and installation artwork.
According to Christian Gaines, ArtPrize executive director, this public involvement is important to giving ArtPrize its societal relevance.
"Throngs of curious visitors encounter and consider work of contemporary art during ArtPrize. It's a phenomenon that happens now where else on the planet. The public vote at ArtPrize is the ultimate catalyst for visitor involvement, inspiring countless conversation about what art is and why it matters."
The latest round of voting remains ends Thursday (October 9), with the 2014 ArtPrize Awards announcement set for Friday evening.
