Movement Music Festival, formerly known as DEMF, returns to Detroit this Memorial Day weekend. The event, now in its 19th year, draws electronic music fans from around the world, and has since evolved to include other genres such as jazz, funk and hip hop.
Movement 2018 features 91 acts playing on five stages, including celebrated local acts like DJ Dez of Slum Village and Chuck Daniels, and international superstars like Diplo.
Paul Young, founder and publisher of Detroit Music Magazine, joined Stateside to talk about Detroit's techno culture, must-see festival acts, and the “godfathers of techno” – Kevin Saunderson, Eddie Flashin’ Fowlkes, and Stacey Pullen.
