Proceeds from the event will benefit New Day Foundation for Families, whose mission is to alleviate financial toxicity and emotional stress while improving treatment outcomes for families facing cancer. “We’re expecting some wild and crazy performances from our celebrity partners,” said Gina Kell Spehn, president and co-founder of New Day Foundation. “They’re digging deep creatively to win for their New Day family. It’s going to be lots of laughs and good times for the whole family. The trash talking has already started, so you know we’re in for a fun time.” One of the families participating in the event is Unjanai Thomas of Redford, a single mother of three young children, including one-year-old twins. Thomas was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in February and was forced to leave her job due to her treatment and its side effects. As a result, she was behind in rent and utilities. Having since moved in with her parents, New Day is now helping her with the basic necessities of food and clothing for her children, car maintenance and gas costs to get to treatment and more.
