North Country Opera: Live at The Ark returns to the big screen, at the State Theatre in Ann Arbor, to help support communities in need. All profits from the event will be donated to Ann Arbor-based Pilar’s Foundation to support organizations that serve the most vulnerable communities, here in Washtenaw County and around the world.
A reception in the theater lobby precedes the screening, where attendees are treated to hors-d’oeuvres provided by local restaurants. Cash bar provided by State Theatre. Reception in the theater lobby begins at 6:00 PM; movie begins at 7:00 PM.
State Senator Sue Shink, a board member of Pilar’s Foundation, will offer a few comments before the screening on the importance of grass roots fundraising efforts.
And, in North Country Opera tradition, any attendee wearing plaid will be entered in a drawing for a Stormy Kromer hat - an iconic symbol of Michigan’s upper peninsula - donated by the Stormy Kromer factory in Ironwood, MI.

MIOCA is proud to present our Mother's Day Time to Teal Run/Walk in Downtown Ann Arbor on Sunday, May 11, 2025!
Grab your family and friends to join us for our annual Mother's Day Time to Teal 5K and Fun Run! This event is an opportunity for us to gather to celebrate the incredible women in our lives, while raising crucial ovarian cancer awareness in our community.
Both the 5K and one mile Fun Run are walker-friendly!
We are honored to continue the tradition of this race inspired by our co-founder Pam Dahlmann, who lost her mother to ovarian cancer and sought a meaningful way to celebrate her memory on Mother’s Day. Sadly, Geri Fournier, co-founder of MIOCA, whose memory this honors, lost her battle in 2011.
Through this event, we aim to raise vital awareness for this often overlooked and under-researched disease, while honoring those impacted by ovarian cancer. The event continues today to bring together mothers, daughters, family, and friends while supporting the fight against ovarian cancer.
All proceeds from this race benefit the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
