You have to see this stunning video of Michigan's Northern Lights

The wonders of our night sky often escape us.

The rainbows of the fleeting Northern Lights or the bright streak of a comet frequently slip behind cloud cover or crowded city skylines, leaving stargazers unrewarded.

But Shawn Malone, of Lake Superior Photo, was luckier than most.

In a year, Malone saw and photographed the Northern Lights every single month. Many of her sightings became a part of a time lapse that incorporates over 10,000 photos from 33 outings.

The project, North Country Dreamland, began in January of 2012, and with the exception of one outing she included from 2011, Malone's project was created within the year.

She traveled as far as 200 miles from her Marquette home to photograph the Upper Peninsula's night sky, with two side trips to Headlands International Dark Sky Park near Mackinaw City, and to Isle Royale.
