Today, Google released into the world more than 40 images of iconic places in Michigan.
Google is known for capturing 360-degree street view images with their camera. For these latest images, the camera was strapped onto a backpack and taken to places cars can't go.
Here's a video produced by Google that shows the "Google Trekker" in action in Michigan:
The 44 street images were collected in partnership with Pure Michigan. You can see all of the images on their page.
Volunteers hiked sand dunes, kayaked rivers and visited popular destinations.
Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley says the virtual tours should help people figure out spots they want to visit in real life.
“I mean seeing the images will do more to inspire people to come and experience than anything else,” Calley said.
Google partnered with Michigan, Florida and Hawaii on the pilot program.
