Andresen said the Jet Stream pattern across North America is likely a cause of the dryness.

If it looks like your parched lawn is crying out for a drink, you've got company.

Parts of the state are in the grips of a dry spell, and it's turning lawns crispy and brown.

Jeffrey Andresen is the state climatologist. He joined us today on Stateside to talk about the lack of rain and what we should expect precipitation-wise through the rest of the summer.

GUEST Jeffrey Andresen is a professor of geography at Michigan State University.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post identified Andresen as a geology professor. He is a geography professor.

Stateside is produced daily by a dedicated group of producers and production assistants. Listen daily, on-air, at 3 and 8 p.m., or subscribe to the daily podcast wherever you like to listen.
