Searching for lost plane, shipwreck hunters find mysterious schooner in Lake Michigan

She sank in Lake Michigan during a squall in 1873.

Now Michigan shipwreck hunters say they've discovered the final resting place of the Lizzie Throop, and it's a big find: the two-masted schooner is an important part of West Michigan's maritime history. Craig Rich, co-director of the Michigan Shipwreck Research Association, joined Stateside to tell us about the find.

Listen above to hear why this was such an interesting find for the team, what the ship's last voyage was like, and details on the team's 20th annual shipwreck show at Hope College, "Mysteries and Histories Beneath the Inland Seas."
