Day care for children is a fact of life for many Michigan families. But with more and more people looking after aging parents, there's also a need for adult day care.
A Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids is launching a program offering day care for children and seniors to interact together. According to Sue Davidson, director of Bethlehem Intergenerational Center, structured activities and organic relationship building enhance quality of life for both seniors and children.
“Doing show and tell together is a beautiful thing,” Davidson said. “The grandparents were so much more excited about show and tell than the kids were. They brought things that the kids were so enthusiastic about.”
