Thirteen-year-old Kamryn Chasnis of Saginaw Township has been baking and cooking her whole life.
When she began watching cooking shows, there were only adult competitors. But then stations began to launch children's competitions, and Chasnis wanted to compete.
At age 12, she competed on Fox’s "Master Chef Junior." This September, she'll appear on the premiere episode of Discovery Family's new baking competition show "Bake It Like Buddy" with Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro.
Chasnis joined Stateside’s Cynthia Canty to discuss her passion for cooking and what she has planned for "Bake It Like Buddy."
On "Master Chef Junior," Chasnis debuted a brown sugar and honey glazed salmon with an herb pecan couscous, sautéed broccolini, seared heirloom tomatoes, and a lemon vinaigrette.
Now she’s shifting her attention to cakes. She'll be baking alongside her grandmother on the premiere of Valastro's new show.
“When I bake with my grandma, it's a very exciting experience because we're the same, but we're also very different. So our ideas together create something like nobody would expect," Chasnis said.
Listen above to hear Chasnis share her plans for the future and dreams of her own restaurant.
