Traditional Thanksgiving meals become 'to-go'

Michigan groups that provide meals for people who need them for Thanksgiving are having to make some changes this year due to COVID-19.

In Midland, Open Door executive director Renee Pettinger says her agency will be serving special Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of people.
  
She says because Open Door is not serving meals indoors, her agency is having added expenses.

“We don’t use paper products like this every day.  We wash dishes,” says Pettinger, “Clam shell containers, silverware, paper cups...all those things...there’s been a pretty steep increase in costs for us.”

Wednesday, the state of Michigan reported 4,273 new confirmed COVID-19 cases.   To date, Michigan has recorded 324,779 confirmed cases, with 8,761 deaths.
