Michiganders will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks Saturday in small town parks and city plazas. Hundreds of people will mark the anniversary at an annual blood drive at Michigan International Speedway.
Over the years, the event has collected more than 10,000 blood donations.
Dawn Kaiser is the area vice president for Versiti, blood center of Michigan.
“It feels good to give back to the community, to do something now and especially during the twentieth anniversary,” says Kaiser.
The Brooklyn, Michigan, race track has been hosting its annual blood drive since the first anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack.
Walk-ins are welcome. The drive runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
