Federal and local authorities have charged three people with being involved in an interstate sex trafficking ring out of Lansing.
The ring allegedly sent underage girls to Arizona and Alabama.
U.S. Attorney Patrick Miles says sex trafficking is a growing problem in Michigan.
“Wherever there’s an interstate highway, wherever there are motels, hotels, resort areas, there is sex trafficking going on,” says Miles. “Statistics show one of every seven missing children will get involved in sex trafficking cases.”
Last month, a man was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for running a sex trafficking ring involving minor girls in Grand Rapids.
