The announcement was made today by the Michigan Supreme Court. Justice Mary Beth Kelly will leave the Supreme Court and return to private practice effective October 1, 2015. Kelly is counted as a conservative member on the seven-member court. The court is made up of five Republican nominees and two Democratic nominees.
Gov. Snyder will appoint a replacement for Kelly.

Justice Kelly is a good friend, and I will miss her presence on the Court. I wish her well in the next phase of her career.”
Kelly was elected to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2010. She served as a Wayne County Circuit Court Judge from 1999 until she was elected to the Supreme Court.
