Drivers can expect a higher police presence along I-69 and I-94 this weekend after reports of possible shots being fired at vehicles.
Police say there have been nearly 20 reports of vehicles that have sustained damage from "projectiles" in Branch, Calhoun and Eaton counties.
Three of the incidents are believed to have been shootings. Others remain under investigation or aren't considered suspicious.
So far, no injuries connected with any of the incidents have been reported.
Jeff Cook with the Eaton County Sheriff's Department said drivers who think their vehicles have been hit, shouldn't immediately stop on the highway.
“Instead, [drivers should] try to note the location by the nearest mile marker, sign, or landmark,” Cook said. “Then [they should] exit safely, continue to a location and call 9-1-1.”
Cook says law enforcement agencies in all three counties are teaming up with state police in an ongoing investigation.
Currently, there are no suspects.
