There's been an important development in the story of Nicole Beverly.
Beverly is the Ypsilanti mom who spoke to Stateside last month, describing the abuse she's suffered from her ex-husband Kevin Beverly even as he's been serving a five-year prison sentence for aggravated stalking.
Inmates from several prisons have said Beverly tried to hire them to kill his ex-wife, or that he openly talked about what he would do to her and their children once he was paroled.
Kevin Beverly is due to be paroled Aug. 24.
Today, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette charged Kevin Beverly with seven felonies in connection to these alleged threats aimed at Nicole and their two sons.
Felony charges have been filed in Jackson, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties: witness retaliation, witness intimidation, extortion and retaliation for reporting a felony, with possible sentences from 10 up to 20 years.
Nicole Beverly re-joined Stateside to talk about the Attorney General's decision and how she found out that the charges would be filed.
Listen to the full interview above to hear why there's still a possibility that Kevin Beverly could be released on Aug. 24, and how Nicole's plans to relocate her family could change if Kevin is given a longer prison sentence.
