A group of lawyers who work for local governments across the country is objecting to a recent decision by a federal appeals court on marking tires to enforce parking in the city of Saginaw.
A three-judge federal appeals court panel said marking tires with chalk qualifies as an unreasonable search under the Fourth Amendment.
Saginaw city workers mark tires and return to see if the vehicle is still parked after two hours.
Now, the International Municipal Lawyers Association is urging the court to take another look.
The group says the decision "effectively guts" parking enforcement.
This week the Association urged the court to reopen the case.
