Michigan State University police announced Tuesday morning that three of the school’s football players have been charged with sexual assault.
The three players were charged relating to an incident on January 16th, in which they allegedly assaulted a young woman at a party.
Josh King is a 19-year-old defensive end from Darien, IL, and played as one of MSU’s nine true freshmen in the 2016 season. According to the Detroit News, he played nine games and started twice. King was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of capturing/distributing image of an unclothed person.
19-year-old Donnie Corley Jr. of Detroit was recruited by MSU to play as a true freshman. As a wide-receiver last season, he ran 453 receiving yards - the most for a true freshman in MSU history. Corley also earned Freshman All-American honors by the Football Writers Association of America. He was charged with third-degree sexual assault.
Demetric Vance, a 20-year-old from Detroit was red-shirted in 2016. Vance was also charged with third-degree sexual assault.
According to MSU head coach Mark Dantonio, all three players have been dismissed from the team, regardless of conviction.
