There are new developments in the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal, including a lawsuit filed against USA Gymnastics, and the first allegations by a male victim.
Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Aly Raismain claims the U.S. Olympic committee and USA Gymnastics were aware of sexual abuse by Larry Nassar "at the highest levels" and failed to intervene as required by their own policies and procedures.
Raisman's attorney, Vince Finaldi, says so far only Larry Nassar has been held accountable, and the lawsuit will allow others to be held accountable. According to Finaldi, Raisman says she was abused by Larry Nassar from 2010 to 2015, and that USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic committee received complaints that they did not investigate or act upon, allowing Nassar to continue to abuse Raisman for "several years."
"Why was he allowed to stay there, why was no additional supervision put on him, and how is it that he was allowed to abuse so many kids over such a long period of time?" Finaldi said.
Raisman says she was molested by Nassar at national and international competitions, at the Karolyi Ranch National Training Center, and during the 2012 Olympics in London.
Separately, new allegations have been made against Nassar by a male gymnast. Jacob Moore says Nassar molested him in the basement of Nassar's home when he was 16 years old. According to a complaint obtained by USA Today, Moore says he was treated for a shoulder injury at Nassar's home. A female entered the treatment area, and Nassar pulled down Moore's pants, exposing him to the female. Nassar was treating the shoulder injury through "acupuncture in his pubic area and in and around his genitalia." The incident occurred in 2016.
