Tens of thousands of people in northern Lower Michigan are still waiting to get their electricity turned back on.

Severe storms Tuesday night into Wednesday knocked out power to more than 150,000 Consumers Energy and Great Lakes Energy Cooperative customers.

Consumers spokesman Brian Wheeler expects it will probably take until Friday to get electricity restored.

“The outages we’ve seen stretch pretty solidly from the Ludington area on the west side of the state to….the Midland area on the east side of the state” says Wheeler, “So there is a lot of ground to cover.”

Utility crews from Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky are helping the restoration effort.
