Michigan's Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs wants input on its rulemaking process for marijuana. The agency is setting up work groups to give suggestions on topics like licensing and allowing new facilities in communities.
There will be groups for licensees, individuals, cities, and attorneys. Morgan Fox is with the National Cannabis Industry Association. He says the work groups can help Michigan avoid some pitfalls other states have encountered when starting up their recreational marijuana markets. "It's good to see that Michigan is actually pursuing stakeholders for involvement in this process," says Fox.
The deadline to volunteer to participate in a work group is Monday, March, 4, 2019. The agency says members of the public will be able to participate in rulemaking even if they're not selected for a work group.
