Ann Arbor’s 2020 budget will be on the table for a vote at the Monday meeting of the city council.
The proposed budget calls for $430 million in spending for the next fiscal year. That’s up about nine percent compared to the current budget.
The city still expects to take in more revenues than it spends, thanks to higher property values.
“I think we’re in good shape,” says Ann Arbor city administrator Howard Lazarus. “I think what we’re talking about in Ann Arbor is what are the additional things that we want to do as opposed to having to discuss the things that we can’t do.”
The extra spending in the proposed budget will go toward affordable housing, clean water projects, sidewalk and crosswalk improvements and includes $880,000 to invest in the city’s climate action programs.
