Another Michigan superhero has drawn the attention of local police.
Just as Petoskey Batman is wrapping up his probation, Bee Sting turns up in Burton, Michigan with a little shotgun mishap.
The Flint Journal reports Burton police arrested "a 36-year-old Sterling Heights man known as Bee Sting...on felonious assault and possession of body armor while committing a violent felony charges for a Thursday morning incident at Twin Meadows Mobile Home Park."
Here's what happened, according to the Flint Journal:
Around 12:07 a.m. Thursday, a 38-year-old man was riding into the park with his girlfriend when the pair were approached by Bee Sting because of the volume of the motorcycle. "Bee Sting approaches the man about how he was driving his motorcycle too loud," said Odette. The costumed man was equipped with a tactical belt, pepper spray, scissors and handcuffs, and wearing a bullet-proof vest, black leather jacket with a bee logo, shin guards, knee pads, black leather gloves and carrying a shotgun. A verbal confrontation ensued between the men, Odette said, when "It escalates and the suspect, Mr. Bee Sting, according to our victim points a gun at him." The victim was able to grab the barrel of the shotgun and point it in an opposite direction, Odette said. One shot was fired and struck a nearby vacant trailer, and police arrived as the men were fighting.
Bee Sting's identity is expected to be released at an arraignment hearing later today.
Meanwhile, up north...
There are indications that Petoskey Batman is NOT hanging it up for good.
He recently sold his Batman suit after being arrested by police for trespassing and possession of dangerous weapons. According to a comment we received on this story, he is merely selling an old suit and making a new one:
The Petoskey Batman is selling off the suit, but he is FAR from hanging it up. He has constructed a new suit, and plans to go back on patrol in a few weeks.
Petoskey Batman and Bee Sting are part of a larger group known on the Internet as the "Michigan Protectors."
The Protectors include:
- Arsenul from Eaton Rapids
- Bee Sting from Detroit
- The Animal from Midland
- Venge from Lansing
- Sentinel from Grand Rapids
- Checkmate from Flint
- RedJacket from Flint
- Void from Midland
- and Petoskey Batman
*Addition - after this post was published, we have since been made aware of another member of the Michigan Protectors. "Arsenul" from Eaton Rapids has been added.
