Jennifer Granholm might not have found a place in Obama's second-term Cabinet, but at least there is a Petoskey stone in the Oval Office.
A photo of Obama tapping the stone on his desk was posted by White House photographer Pete Souza last week.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the stone came from Bailey’s Place in Petoskey. A close friend of Souza bought the rock and presented it to the president for his 50th birthday.
As we all know, Petoskey stones are composed of fossilized coral originally deposited during the Devonian period of the Paleozoic Era.
In 1965, they were adopted as Michigan's state stone.
Souza has been described as Obama's "secret weapon," and now it appears the president has set his sights on the hearts of Michiganders everywhere.
Coming soon: M-22 bumper stickers on the presidential motorcade.
