Many Michigan restaurant owners are saying thanks today.
Thanksgiving is a big day for many Michigan restaurants, which offer special menus to sold out seatings.
In Lansing, Clara’s is open on Thanksgiving for the first time.
Cindy Jubeck says her father, who founded the restaurant back in the 1970’s, never would have opened the restaurant on Thanksgiving.
“So we’ve never done it,” says Jubeck, “But this year we finally said look you know what why don’t we try a short day. We’re only open from 11 to 5. So we can still do our Thanksgiving with our families later on.”
Nationally, 15 million Americans are expected to eat their Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant today. Another 18 million are expected to pick up all or part of their meal at a restaurant and eat it somewhere else.
