Sunday is the deadline to submit ideas for what to do with the old Pontiac Silverdome.
The Silverdome’s owner is holding an online competition to determine what can be done to redevelop the 127 acre property.
Kathy Velikov is a University of Michigan Architecture professor and one of the people judging the proposals.
“It’s really fantastic to see developers initiating a design competition,” says Velikov. “Trying to engage both the public and the potential of high quality design really raises the bar on the future of urban development.”
The winning ideas will be announced in the next few months.
Opened in 1975, the stadium has sat largely unused for more than a decade.
The Triple Investment Group bought the former home of the Detroit Lions for $583,000 in 2009.
