Former Republican gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos says the state is finally getting the change it has needed for more than 8 years. DeVos lost to Governor Jennifer Granholm in 2006. "It’s not about partisanship it’s about effectiveness and now Rick Snyder has a chance," DeVos said, "Rick has a proven background and it’s his chance to step up and be effective. We’re behind him and we think this represents a new day and a new opportunity for Michigan."
DeVos says that momentum is clearly behind the GOP nationally and thinks it will help sweep in 3rd congressional candidate Justin Amash with it. "4 years ago it was the other way around but this year the momentum is clearly behind the republicans and Justin is going to be a beneficiary of that," DeVos said. "We hope he not only wins but he wins big so that he goes to Washington with a strong mandate so he can do a job and not be worried about covering his backside and be more worried about going and changing Washington."
