Making Michigan’s roads better is the job of a state appointed committee that holds its first meeting this week. The legislature created the Complete Streets Advisory Council last year.
Bill Shreck is a spokesman for the Michigan Department of Transportation. “A complete street refers to a roadway that provides access to all legal users which includes motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians…those travelling with assisted devices like wheelchairs."
The panel will come up with recommendations for ways the state, cities and counties can better coordinate their transportation resources. The council’s final report is due next year.
