We'll be following the recall vote against State Representative Paul Scott (R-Grand Blanc) this evening.
Scott was targeted for recall by the the Michigan Education Association. Rick Pluta reported earlier:
The union partially blames him for budget cuts to K-12 schools and tenure law revisions that make it easier to fire teachers. The recall petition also cites Scott’s vote in favor of the state tax overhaul that includes extending the Michigan income tax to seniors’ pensions."
The effort is seen as a referendum on the policies of the Snyder administration and Republicans in the legislature.
Rick Pluta is following the votes in Genesee County. Pluta reports that "Democrats and Republicans say typical turnout in off-year elections in Genesee Co. is about 14%.
Today, turnout is looking more like 25%."
