The Michigan Supreme Court ordered the Court of Appeals to issue a ruling by Monday on whether the "Protect Our Jobs" constitutional amendment proposal should go on the November ballot.
The referendum seeks to to protect collective bargaining rights in Michigan.
From The Detroit News:
The Supreme Court said it will also exercise consideration of the proposal but would not further review the material until the lower court's ruling. The Supreme Court's order came as the Court of Appeals began its hearing on the issue Wednesday morning. Andrew Nickelhoff, attorney for Protect Our Jobs, applied to the Supreme Court for an "emergency bypass" last week, meaning he asked the state's highest court to rule on the matter immediately without waiting for the Court of Appeals to rule.
