Supporters are gathering in Commerce Township, Michigan waiting to hear from Mitt Romney and his running mate Rep. Paul Ryan. They're scheduled to address the crowd around noon.
More from the Detroit News:
Even before doors were to open at 9:30 a.m., roughly 100 people turned out an hour early at the cider mill as security from Oakland County Sheriff's Department and others were sweeping the area with metal detectors and dogs. Richard Gibes looked out at Commerce Road, packed with dozens of cars and the number of people lining the white fences surrounding the farm. "I think this is just great," said Gibes of Milford. "This place is going to be packed." Rochester resident Sean Mulcahy added he was pumped to get a chance to hear Romney and Ryan. "We're exited for some new blood," said Mulcahy. "We're here to take back our country, and I want to hear how we're going to get America working again."
The campaign stop in Michigan is a signal that the race is tightening in the state.
