Michigan Democrats say they welcome the question of whether President Obama’s record leaves Americans better off than they were four years ago.
Democrats get down to the business of explaining their case to re-elect Barack Obama today. Michigan delegates say Republican Mitt Romney’s plan for economic recovery is no different than President George Bush’s.
U.S. Senator Carl Levin says the contrast is that simple.
“The Republicans, I think, by keeping George Bush away from the convention, gave a pretty strong awareness that they’re even aware of the fact that we cannot go back to those days and we are better off than we were when George Bush left office.”
Michigan delegates are looking forward to hearing from First Lady Michelle Obama tonight. They believe it will be a spark to energize Democrats and remind undecided voters that the economy is recovering, while conceding more work needs to be done.
