Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign has shown a renewed interest in Michigan with recent visits from Chris Christie, Ann Romney, and vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan.
Former first lady Laura Bush looks to be the next in line as she is scheduled to appear at a campaign event this Sunday in Livonia.

A Romney spokeswoman in Michigan, Kelsey Knight, said Bush will appear at a volunteer appreciation event. "Michigan has seen a surge of volunteer activity this year. They have made three times more phone calls and have knocked 17 times more doors than at this time in the '08 campaign," Knight said. "Last night in Marquette, we made our 3 millionth voter contact in Michigan, an incredible milestone. With 11 days left, having Mrs. Bush in Livonia will just fuel the fire and the momentum we are seeing."
As Michigan Radio reported earlier this month, there is still some question as to whether or not Michigan is really a swing state.
The campaigns have kept spending focused on states like Ohio, Virginia, and Colorado, where the race appears to be a true tossup.
East Lansing native Nate Silver, writing for the New York Times on his 538 blog, gives President Obama a 98% chance of winning Michigan.
