Raising the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour, and closing the pay gap between men and women; those are key parts of the 2014 midterm election campaign for Democrats.
Michigan has one of the biggest gender-based pay gaps in the nation. That's according to a new report by the National Partnership for Women and Families.
The study says women who work full-time in Michigan earn 74 cents for every dollar men make. While some say the gap isn't that big, it's clear that women are often paid less than men.
We spoke with U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, who co-sponsored a bill that sought to address the gender pay gap.
The U.S. Senate voted down that bill after our interview with Stabenow.
