The White House says the First Lady will appear at a campaign event in Detroit on Friday. She’ll be sharing the stage with U.S. Senate candidate Gary Peters and gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer.
Michelle Obama’s popularity rating is much higher than her husband’s, which may make Democratic candidates more willing to share the stage with her than the president.
Michelle Obama isn’t the only big name lending support to candidates in next month’s election.
Last week, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney lent his support to several Republican candidates.
