Michigan Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters signed onto letters Monday to try to stop federal cuts that would hurt the state.

Both senators signed onto letters sent out Monday. One urges a senate subcommittee to support health clinics for primary medical care. A fund supporting the clinics is set to expire this fall. Two-hundred health clinics in Michigan get money from the fund. The letter says those clinics serve some 200,000 people.

The other letter asks another subcommittee not to cut funding for the A-10 fighter plane. The Air Force actually wants to phase out the A-10 to save money. There’s a fleet of the planes at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base near Mt. Clemens.
