Organizers expect to sell out today’s speech by Republican Party presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Trump is scheduled to speak this evening at the Birch Run Expo Center. The event is a fundraiser for the Saginaw and Genesee County Republican Parties.

Michael Moon is the chair of the Genesee County GOP. He says Trump’s controversial comments about a Fox News anchor have spurred sales during the past few days.

“You run into the people who want to hear what he’s going to say next,” says Moon. “On the other hand, you have a lot of people who like what he says because he isn’t (politically correct) about it.”

Trump’s invitation to a Republican event in Atlanta was withdrawn because of the controversy over Trump’s comments about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.

Democrats, veterans and Latino groups plan to protest outside of Trump’s speech.

Whether Trump sparks new controversy or is on his best behavior, the original intent of the appearance has served its intended purpose.

Michael Moon expects Trump’s appearance will generate more than $30,000 each for the Saginaw and Genesee County Republican Parties.
