Speaking at last night’s Democratic National Convention, former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm said Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton understands what the U.S. needs.
“Our next president knows that our nation is a village. That we are one family. And in a family, no one gets left behind,” says Granholm.
Granholm cited the Flint water crisis as an example. “When Flint’s water poisons its children, it hurts all of us. These are our children. We are all Flint!” she told the DNC audience.
By contrast, Granholm accused Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump of being too focused on himself to lead the United States.
Last week, we heard Trump's hopeless vision of our country. Then he said: "I alone can fix it." Imagine Donald Trump's version of the Constitution: "I, the person, in order to form a more perfect union..." Or, centuries later, "I, shall overcome." Or, "Ask not what I can do for my country, ask what my country can do for me!" Donald: You're so vain, you probably think this speech is about you. Here's what I know: We have to stop Donald Trump!
Granholm talked about the need to invest in emerging technology; advanced steel industry, solar panels and electric vehicles.
But the Michigan Republican Party questions Granholm’s expertise on economics.
The Democratic Party’s embrace of Jennifer Granholm shows that they aren’t interested in finding the kind of real solutions needed to fix the problems facing our nation. When Granholm fled from Michigan for California at the end of her second term, she left our state a mess. Families were being torn apart as jobs left our state and young college graduates were forced to look for opportunities out-of-state.
