Flint city counil and Mayor Karen Weaver continue to clash over city spending.

The Flint city council today voted to override the mayor’s veto of next year’s city budget.

The dispute over a miniscule amount of money threatened to leave Flint without the ability to pay city workers next month.

It’s the latest in a series of squabbles over city spending between the council and Mayor Karen Weaver.

City Council President Kerry Nelson voted with the majority of the council to override Weaver’s veto.

“This particular junction is closed,” said Nelson. “I’m hoping that communication will open up better…Not that it’s all my way or your way.”

Flint’s city budget is not yet set in stone. A state-appointed oversight board must still sign off on the budget blueprint before July 1.
