Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Haley Stevens has been elected for a second term representing Michigan's 11th Congressional District.
Stevens defeated her Republican opponent, Birmingham lawyer Eric Esshaki, 50% to 48%, with all votes counted.
Two percent of the vote went to Libertarian candidate Leonard Schwartz.
Essakhi has not conceded the race.
He said he does not accept the election results although he provided no specific evidence as to why he should not.
Stevens said she intends to work with Republicans and Democrats, and her focus is health and safety in the midst of COVID-19 and economic recovery.
In 2018, Stevens flipped the 11th District from red to blue.
Stevens was part of a wave of newly elected House Democrats following the election of President Donald Trump in 2016. Trump won the District in 2016 by roughly 5 percentage points.
In 2018, Stevens was the first Democrat since the 1960s elected to a full two-year term in the 11th District, and she is the first woman to represent it.
The 11th District is northwest of Detroit and includes parts of Wayne and Oakland counties.
