Today on Stateside, we’re catching up on the alphabet soup of rental assistance programs available to Michiganders in need—and some help for homeowners, too. Grand Rapids artist and educator Megan Constance Altieri shares how her winning entry for Art Prize 2018 morphed into a new book about developing empathy muscles through eavesdropping. And Detroit interdisciplinary artist Rashaun Rucker takes us behind an affecting series of works he’s produced, drawing lines between what Black men experience and an enduring and much maligned bird species: pigeons.
