The Detroit Tigers take on the Oakland A’s in today's game three of their American League Division Series.
The teams are tied one-one in the best of five game series. The series has been marked by strong pitching and little scoring by both sides.
Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland says he would like to see his players produce more runs in this afternoon’s game at Comerica Park.
“You know we haven’t scored a run in 17 innings. And most of that is a credit to Oakland’s pitching,” Leyland told reporters Sunday, though he added, “And certainly we did a good job against them as well.”
Leyland says he expects a good crowd at today’s game, which starts at 1 o’clock.
“A lot of people are going to get docked some pay because they’re not going to work (Monday),” joked Leyland.
If the Tigers can win two of their next three games, they will move on to the American League Championship series. The winner of that series will move on to the World Series.
The Tigers reached the World Series last year, only to be swept in four games by the San Francisco Giants.
