The Detroit Tigers split the first two games of their American League Conference Series with the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.
It looked like the Tigers were going to win both games over the weekend. Saturday, the Tigers defeated the Red Sox 1 to 0 in Game One.
And they were leading again Sunday night in Boston. Late in the game, the Tigers were leading 5 to 1. But the Red Sox scored five runs in the final two innings, including David Ortiz’ 8th inning grand slam to tie the game. The Red Sox won Game Two on a walk off single that scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. The best of seven game series is now tied at one game apiece.
The series now moves to Detroit for games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. After that, if needed the series, will return to Boston to decide who will represent the American League in the World Series.
