Gov. Rick Snyder honored Olympic ice dancing champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White at the state Capitol today. The two University of Michigan students won gold medals at the recent Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. During the ceremony, Snyder noted many of the Olympic ice dancing pairs live and train in Michigan. “I think it’s fair to say that Michigan is the ice dancing capitol of the world,” Snyder said, which drew applause from the audience. |
Olympian Charlie White says he and his ice dancing partner, Meryl Davis, are both honored to represent Michigan around the world.
“I don’t think we could imagine living, let alone training, anywhere else in the world,” says White.
The competition is not over for Davis and White. Next up, the pair will appear on the television program "Dancing with the Stars.’"
