Blake Griffin (l) was the first pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He'd been with Los Angeles for his entire career until the Clippers traded him to the Pistons on Monday.

The Detroit Pistons have a new star on their roster. The Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers have completed a trade that will bring five-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin and two other players to Detroit.

The Pistons will send forward Tobias Harris, guard Avery Bradley and center Boban Marjanovic to the Clippers along with two future draft picks. Harris had been the Pistons' leading scorer this season, averaging 18.1 points per game.

Also joining the Pistons from L.A. are center Willie Reed and forward Brice Johnson.

Griffin, 28, is a 6-foot-10-inch power forward.  This season, he's averaging 22.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 33 games. He has struggled with injuries over the past few years.

Griffin signed a five-year, $173-million contract with the Clippers last summer. He'd spent his entire career with the team after being the top pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Griffin shared his thoughts on the deal this morning on Twitter.

The Pistons got off to a hot start this season, but had a seven-game losing streak in early December and have also lost their last eight games.
