University of Michigan men's basketball coach John Beilein reached a deal Sunday to coach the Cleveland Caveliers.

Tom Wywrot, associate director of U-M Athletic Communications, confirmed the information Monday morning.

Beilein's deal with the Cavs will be for five years.

He has coached the Wolverines since 2007 and just last year signed a contract through the 2022-23 season.

Beilein said he is grateful for the opportunity the U of M gave him over the past 12 years.

The Wolverines made nine trips to the NCAA Tournament and two trips to the National Championship game under Beilein's coaching.

He leaves the U of M with a record of 278 wins and 150 losses.
